What career would I suggest for new players?

I just mentioned Paladin in previous article. And I say that Paladin is a convenient career which has pros and cons. So, would I suggest this career for new player? Or do I have another choice?

Well this question that I asked myself is not easy to answer. Because that depends on the motivation of one who play TSW mod. For those who just want to give it a try, just taste a little bit, not planing to play too deeply. I would suggest you to choose Paladin. Especially my last version, Zeal Paladin with dual aura. Like the one in the video.

And let me explain why I recommend it. But I need to explain my own evolution of playing Paladin. I had three types of Paladin buildings basically. The first one, it was basically Fist of Heaven Paladin, at the time I didn't know the power of Holy Shield in TSW mod. So the first Paladin I played was offensive like the time I was. So it had a disadvantage that it was not tank, which meant you could not stand still there for about three seconds under heavy physical attack. So it needed a melee mercenary as a tank. But it has a advantage compared to the next Paladin that I would introduce, due to melee mercenary it can deal with World Stone, the way to Baal.
The second one, with full Holy Shield, is more tank. But it can not deal with World Stone because not tank enough at the situation and the mercenary I chose was Rogue, so at World Stone I was unable to go through unlike the first Paladin. But if you don't care about this, the second one Paladin is very useful at other maps.
The third one, which is the latest version, is Zeal Paladin with dual aura. It is melee career, but it is tank enough with Convert generally. And it has high block rate and high defense. So it is the most defensive  melee career. This is why I would recommend it: it has the highest tolerance for mistakes, which a new player usually makes.

But for those who want to get advanced, I mean, those who are like me, single and new player who want to go through Hell alone. I will hesitate to suggest. As I mentioned before, it is too convenient. So even I would rely on the convenience without consciousness. And it is dangerous if you are used to it. Because the way of playing Paladin in TSW mod is basically different or even opposite to other careers. Once you learned it, it would be hard to change later. This is the risk.

So do I have another suggestion? I think that I was lucky to play Barbarian as my first character. Because now I would think it as a king of offense, or prototype of offense. Which means this career has the most options to attack. So you can learn the basic way of attacking. But it is not as easy as Paladin since it lack the high defense and block rate, it has only medium defense with bo skill but not high block rate or no block rate without shield. This will be harder to survive, you need to dodge manually. And it is not that tolerable to mistakes. It needs higher (more accurate) judgement, and higher level mechanics, which leads to players will be more stressful. So to sum up, Barbarian is more difficult than Paladin. I personally consider Barbarian as an "Pro Offense Meter", check one's Barbarian level can know one's offensive level. Once you know how to play Barbarian, you can learn other offensive careers quickly. Because Barbarian's skills have the prototype of them. With its skills, you can choose to fight or escape in various ways. This variety is the main reason that I call it "Pro Offense Meter". At least I can know a player's level by checking how a player choose to attack, dodge, and escape.
